Understanding citations
AI search engines pull information from specific web sources to construct their responses. The citations table shows you exactly which domains influence how AI describes your brand, how frequently they appear, and whether their influence is positive or negative.Reading the citations table
Switch to the Citations tab on the dashboard to view the following columns. Each domain row is expandable — click a domain to see the individual pages cited from that source, including their URLs and per-page metrics.| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Domain | The source domain (with favicon) that AI search engines cite |
| Pages | Number of specific pages cited from that domain |
| Citing Prompts | Number of tracked prompts where this domain appears as a citation |
| Models | Which AI search engines cite this domain |
| Brand Mentioned | Whether your brand is specifically mentioned in the cited content |
| Category | The content category of the cited source |
| Sentiment | The sentiment of the cited content toward your brand |
Using citation data
Use citation analysis to:- Identify which sources positively influence your AI visibility and strengthen those relationships
- Spot sources that negatively represent your brand and develop strategies to address them
- Understand which content categories AI search engines rely on most when discussing your brand
Domain favicons may not always load for all sources. This does not affect the underlying citation data.
